Positive progression and destinations for students is an increasingly important measure for schools and colleges, both for Department for Education performance tables and Ofsted.
With that in mind, East Durham College have analysed the latest achievement data for A levels locally. This is taken from nationally published data which had just been released.
We are very proud of our 100% achievement rate, which places us above other sixth forms locally. Of our A level cohort, we have retained all of them for the last two years, and they have all achieved. The majority of our A level students head off to university to study a variety of programmes (such as medicine, engineering, history, law and psychology) both in the north-east region and nationally.
We also are rightly proud of our high retention figure, again placing us above other providers locally, for all students aged 16-18 across A level and technical, vocational subjects. Of these students who studied at level 3, 95% progressed to their first choice university.
Our recent Ofsted report is now published, and the judgement below reflects the focus we have on positive destinations and our students’ success:
“Almost all of your learners progress to further study, higher education, apprenticeships or meaningful and sustainable employment. Learners benefit from excellent practical resources at the college. Governors and senior leaders ensure that the substantial investment in physical resources has a positive impact on enabling learners to gain the skills that employers value and need.”
