This course will introduce you to the fundamental principles of Computer Science, from hardware, logic and data, to programming, software, networking and operating systems. You will also develop essential skills for further study by undertaking research, and planning, designing and developing your own programming projects. The modules you will study include:

On successful completion of this programme, you will be able to apply to universities offering degree courses in computing, or computing related degree courses. If you'd prefer to start earning straight away after completing your Access to HE Computing course, you can apply for advanced apprenticeships, or direct entry into tech careers.

After completing an Access to HE course in Computing, students have several further study options to deepen their knowledge and enhance their career prospects. Here are some pathways:

Undergraduate Degrees – Pursue a Bachelor’s degree in fields like Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or Information Technology.

Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) and Foundation Degrees – Study focused, practical programmes in computing, often with options to top up to a full degree later.

Although there are no formal entry requirements to enrol on the Access to HE Computing course, if you wish to progress to University, it is your responsibility to check entry requirements for the courses you are interested in applying for.

All assessments are assessed internally and include assignments, programming projects, research projects and controlled assessments.

Your course is structured over 36 weeks from January to December, divided into two semesters. Your course will run either over two evenings, or two daytimes, with 6 hours of lessons each week.
