IFATE Level 5 Learning & Skills Teacher Apprenticeship
Our teacher training programme consists of the IFATE Level 5 Learning & Skills Teacher Apprenticeship.
The Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship integrates practical experience with academic studies, including the theory surrounding teaching and learning. It is aimed at anyone who currently works in, or plans to work, in the post-compulsory education sector delivering vocational education and training.
The Level 5 Learning & Skills Teacher is recognised as fully DET compliant by the Department of Education.
To qualify for the apprenticeship standard, you must:
• Already be in employment for a minimum of 30 hours
• Have a significant teaching or training role, minimum of 8 hours per week
• Have achieved Level 2 in Maths & English
Level 3 Award in Education and Training
The Level 3 Award provides learners with an introduction to teaching and explores roles and responsibilities associated with the teaching role. The planning and delivering of sessions including engaging and motivating learners and establishing ground rules within a learning environment is covered. It explores the different assessment methods and the need for record-keeping. The delivery of an observed micro-teaching session or an assessed practice in a real work environment is a requirement of this qualification.
This course is assessed by a range of methods including written assignment, observation, peer assessment and feedback, reflection tasks and development plans and final submission of a portfolio of evidence.
Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning
The Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school or college environments. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships.
It’s aimed at learners working in roles that support pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools, as well as colleges.
