All at East Durham College wishes to congratulate Allan Raby who won ‘Floristry Tutor of the Year’ at the British Floristry Association’s Industry Awards. The event saw a range of people within the floristry industry including florists, tutors and wholesale suppliers and was held in Hinckley on Saturday 15th October 2022.
Allan is a former floristry student at East Durham College, who then trained as a lecturer, and came back to teach his passion at the place that started it all! He was nominated for the award by his students at Houghall Campus and won 1st place at the event, beating many other tutors nationwide. “I did not expect to win, it came as a complete surprise when they called my name. My students nominated me and that was a huge compliment, but I never thought I would get any further.” Allan said, adding “I love what I do, and I try to inspire my students to be the best they can and make it fun”.
