East Durham College has once again been accredited to the matrix Standard, demonstrating the high-quality careers and course information, advice and guidance services we provide to students and the local community.
EDC has three campuses across the North East – its state-of-the-art Peterlee campus, its stunning land-based college at Houghall in Durham and the Technical Academy also in Peterlee, a centre of excellence in construction learning. The college has over 4,000 students across its three campuses.
The matrix Standard is the international quality standard for organisations that deliver information, advice and/or guidance (IAG), either as their sole purpose or as part of their service offering.
Roger Chapman, Head of the matrix Service for The Growth Company said: “This is a fantastic achievement for East Durham College, and I would like to congratulate the team on their success.
“We believe that at the heart of high-quality advice and support services are strong leadership, excellent service and a focus on continuous improvement, all underpinned by effective use of the resources available.
“The matrix Standard is designed to benchmark organisations against best practice in these areas. With their accreditation success, East Durham College is working to provide the best possible support to their clients.”
Commenting on the award, Carina Tomlinson, Vice Principal of East Durham College, added: “This is a fantastic achievement for the college. We pride ourselves on the excellent information, advice and guidance we provide to all our students. It’s our aim to ensure students are on the right course for them - and their career aspirations - and to then leave us ready for the next step in their future careers; to be accredited to matrix Standard means we are achieving this aim.”
