East Durham College is proud to announce that a team of media learners has successfully reached the final stage of the prestigious World Skills UK Competition, set to take place in Manchester in November 2023. These talented individuals, who have been studying the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Media Production, have showcased their exceptional skills and expertise in the field, earning them a place among the top contenders in this globally recognised competition.
The four students – Willem Fisk-Nicholson, Matthew Thompson, Naomi Park-Hanson & Jake Venners – had to produce a promotional video about college life with an emphasis on mental health to qualify for the national finals of the competition.
The regional heats were held under strict competition rules; the students had just 4 hours to produce and then present to a team of judges, 1 of which was a Netflix employee.
