East Durham College proudly announces that two talented teams of media students have represented the college at the prestigious World Skills National Qualifiers in digital media production. The event took place on June 20, 2024, at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College.
The challenge, aimed at showcasing the creative and technical skills of young media professionals, required participants to produce a compelling video focused on mental health and wellbeing for young people. The teams had just one day to conceptualise, shoot, and edit their projects, highlighting the importance of a healthy lifestyle in today's youth.
The students representing East Durham College were:
- Team 1: Lucy Archer, Libby Scanlon, Grace Burton, and Jack McDonald
- Team 2: Byron Booth, Eliza Dean, Dom Stoddart, and Mason Johnson
These students demonstrated exceptional teamwork, creativity, and dedication in tackling the critical topic of mental health. Their hard work and innovative approaches were evident in the final videos they produced, which are now in contention for top honours in the national competition.
The results of the competition will be announced on July 11, 2024. The entire East Durham College community is eagerly awaiting the outcome and is proud of the students' achievements thus far.
Suzi Martin, Media Lecturer says, "I am incredibly pleased and proud of our students for reaching the World Skills National Qualifiers in digital media production.
