EDC Successful in Multimillion-pound T Level Capital Funding Bid

East Durham College is delighted to announce it has been successful in a recent T Level capital funding bid, which will see major investment in its Catering & Hospitality, Construction and Engineering & Manufacturing provision.

The multimillion-pound award will see extensive refurbishment of the current catering and hospitality learning environment based at the Peterlee campus. The College plans to extend the training kitchen to ensure sufficient size and capacity for a range of new resources that are required for the teaching of catering skills which employers of today demand. In addition, the existing Scene1 Restaurant will get an exciting major renovation and makeover.

The total investment, which will be in excess of £6m, will also see exciting developments with the construction and engineering & Manufacturing facilities, resources and equipment.

Suzanne Duncan, Principal & Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to have been successful in this bid. This significant investment will ensure that our T Level students are able to learn in the most modern, up to date facilities, suitable for the delivery of world class T Level qualifications as well as having access to industry standard specialist equipment, which will help promote progression into employment.”

The government is providing over £74 million in funding to support 86 T Levels projects as part of wave 4 of the T Levels capital fund to support delivery from September 2023.
