New Year's Eve Radio Station Takeover by EDC Media Students

A group of level 3 media students from East Durham College are set to bring 2019 in with a bang as they take over the airwaves on Radio Hartlepool this New Year’s Eve.

The students will be hosting a 3-hour radio show to celebrate the arrival of 2019, hitting the airwaves from 10PM and ending at 1AM.

The show, entitled the PartyZone, will include a mix of chat and music from students during their 3 hour slot.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to get a real taste of radio.” said Suzi Martin, media lecturer at East Durham College. “Students already get great experience of radio production during their course; for Hartlepool Radio to give them work experience like this too will benefit them in the future when they are on the hunt for jobs in the media industry.”

East Durham College regularly works with local radio stations from across the North East and beyond, hosting Capital Radio media events for Year 11 students to get a taste of media, and regularly giving EDC media students the opportunity to visit radio stations in our region.

Suzi added, “We’d like to thank Hartlepool Radio for this amazing opportunity for our students – I’m sure they’ll bring in 2019 in style!”
