Massive congrats are in order for three of our Level 3 barbering students as they aced a National Barbering competition!
Elle Matcalfe, Jessica Filby and Simone Morrow recently competed in City & Guild's National Student Barber of the Year 2020 competition down in London.
We're delighted to say that, against over 100 competitors from across England, Elle won the silver medal, Jess won the bronze and Simone came in at a close fourth.
The City and Guilds National Student Barber competition gives students like Elle, Jess and Simone the chance to sharpen their skills even further.
Alison Brightwell, barbering lecturer here at the college, is really chuffed with the news.
"I'm absolutely buzzing!' she said, 'Elle, Jess and Simone should be so proud of what they've achieved - I know I'm proud of them!
At EDC, we're all about entering our students for competitions. Students can use competitions like this to gain recognition, build their skills and compete against other students from other colleges.
Jess is no stranger to awards either - just last month, she landed a silver medal in the Men's Creative Cut and Finish category at the AHT regional competition.
Why not follow in Elle's, Jess's and Simone's footsteps and train to be a barber with EDC?
Again, we'd just like to say a massive congrats to the these three amazing student barbers. Can't wait to see what they get up to next!
