If you're here on this page, you're considering enrolling with us this year, right?
Well, it's definitely a great idea! On this page you'll find all of the information you'll need about enrolment as well as what you can do if you haven't yet applied.
Let's get to it, shall we?
What is Enrolment, Exactly?
Great question! Enrolment is basically where you come to college and say 'I'd like to do that course, please!' and then our team makes sure it's the right course for you, check you meet the entry requirements and get you signed up on the right course level, ready to start in September.
Without coming to enrolment, you're not officially a student here at EDC, so make sure you set aside a day you can pop in!
Please note: you can still attend our enrolment events even if you are yet to apply for a course! For more info on that, keep scrolling.
I Haven't Applied to EDC/I Applied to Another College, Can I Still Come?
Of course you can! You do not need to have applied for a course at EDC previously to come along to enrol.
However, we do recommend you check out what we've got to offer and pick a course before you come!
You can view all of our courses on our Course Finder, here: http://dev.edc.ac.uk/study/course-finder
Alternatively, if you'd like to view by subject area, watch some videos and find out some general info, use this link: https://www.dev.edc.ac.uk/study/subject-areas

What Happens at Enrolment?
First of all, please be aware that enrolment can take a while. Expect to be with us for a couple of hours on the day.
Here's all the steps that'll happen as part of the enrolment process:
- Arrival - when you arrive at either our Peterlee (head to the Sports Hall) or Houghall campus (follow the signs to the conference hall), you'll then see a table with check-in desk next to it. Come up to the desk, say hi, give them your name, and our team will pull out a folder with all of your details in it (unless you haven't applied already, in which case we'll ask you to scribble some details down on a form).
- Lecturer Interview - you'll then be directed to see the next available course lecturer for the subject you wish to study. They'll have an informal chat with you, go through your grades, and ensure you're going onto the right course and course level to meet your career objectives.
- Maths & English Assessment - once you've seen a lecturer, we'll direct you to the maths and English team if you're aged 16-18 and have a GCSE grade 2 or lower in maths/English. You'll then need to take a short online test so we can check what level you're working at and get you in the right level group for maths/English.
- Additional Learning Support - if you have additional learning needs, the ALS team are also on hand to discuss your needs and requirements.
- Enrolment - now that you've decided on your course, you'll be put into the enrolment queue. You'll then sit with a member of the team who will go through all your details and get you registered on our system for your course. If you are aged 19 or over, they will also double check government funding rules as you may be eligible to study your course free of charge or advise if you need to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan (applies to some courses at Level 3 and above/subject to your prior attainment).
- ID Badge - once you're done with enrolment, you are officially an EDC student! Before you leave, you'll need to visit our ID badge station, who'll grab a quick photo of you, print your badge and give you a lanyard (which also doubles up as your FREE bus pass with Arriva).
