Being Healthy

For you we will: 

  • Enforce a zero tolerance to drugs, alcohol and substance misuse
  • Offer a range of healthy eating options
  • Provide sexual health education
  • Promote health and well being and increase access to range of sporting opportunities
  • Provide on campus smoking areas

From you we expect in return: 

  • Observe the college policy on drugs, alcohol and substance misuse – zero tolerance
  • To engage fully in health, well being opportunities
  • To keep learning areas free from food and drink with the exception of bottled water
  • Only smoke in designated areas

Staying Safe

For you we will:

  • Provide all staff and students with an ID card
  • Enforce a zero tolerance to offensive weapons
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults and assist them to access confidential support services where needed
  • Provide information and guidance in relation to health and safety, personal protective equipment and safe use of equipment
  • Publicise parking and speed restrictions
  • Promote the Safe Learner concept

From you we expect in return:

  • Wear your student ID card at all times when you are in college
  • Do not carry offensive weapons
  • Be responsible, ensure all litter is put in a bin and leave all classrooms tidy
  • Respect the need to wear appropriate protective clothing or uniform, use equipment responsibly and take responsibility for health and safety of yourself and others
  • Have due regard to pedestrians and road users on the college site, by keeping to college speed limits and parking restrictions, and not riding motorbikes and cycles on paved areas

Enjoying and achieving

For you we will:

  • Provide access to a wide range of learning programmes
  • Provide a range of appropriate teaching, learning and assessment styles to meet your needs, ensuring that all students have an individual learning plan
  • Provide well qualified and experienced tutors, who will actively participate in your learning and ensure that assignments will be set and returned with constructive comments within an agreed timescale
  • Ensure regular opportunities to review progress
  • Celebrate a student success
  • Promote a programme of cultural and social activities
  • Support students through an informative induction programme
  • Ensure that learning programmes are appropriate to needs

From you we expect in return: 

  • Take charge of your own learning and develop your individual learning plan with your tutor
  • Take part in regular reviews of your progress with your Lecturer or Personal Learning Coach
  • Fill in your individual learning plan on Pro-Monitor
  • Submit all work to the best of your ability and on time
  • Respect copyright laws and ensure that work submitted is your own
  • Strive for 100% attendance of all parts of your learning programme (including group and individual tutorials, Maths and English lessons), and inform us if you are going to be absent or late
  • Arrive at all classes on time and prepared (i.e. with appropriate equipment and learning materials )
  • Do not use mobile phones and MP3 players in the learning areas

Making a positive contribution

For you we will:

  • Promote the college’s Equality and Diversity policy
  • Provide a range of additional activities and enrichment opportunities
  • Promote the Learner Voice through the Student Council, membership of the Corporation Board and student representatives
  • Ensure that student views are listened to and acted upon appropriately
  • Respond quickly and fairly to problems or complaints brought to our attention

From you we expect in return: 

  • Understand and observe all aspects of the college’s Equality and Diversity policy
  • Make active use of learning and enrichment opportunities offered
  • Respect your tutors, other members of college staff and other students
  • Not to use foul racist or abusive language, violent or bullying behaviour
  • Act appropriately in learning areas and do not distract others
  • Treat the college campus with respect – no vandalism
  • Observe the college IT code of conduct

For you we will:

  • Offer financial support and advice to eligible students
  • Promote team working, enterprise and work placement opportunities
  • Offer confidential and impartial advice on Higher Education, job and career opportunities

From you we expect in return: 

  • Ensure that all fees and charges are paid promptly
  • Adopt appropriate and professional standards in the workplace
  • To take up opportunities to work with employers, enter competitions and achievements
