Progression Coaches

At East Durham College, all students aged from 16-18 are assigned a Progression Coach when they enrol with us, to help develop their personal, social and employability skills - ensuing they successful progress throughout their time we us and onward to their chosen career or onto higher education.

Progression Coaches are the first point of contact for EDC students with any issues they may face whilst they're at college, including advice and guidance on their course and individual pastoral support to help overcome any barriers to their education. Progression Coaches also closely manage the behaviour and attitudes of our students - including attendance.

Progression Coaches deliver a highly-successful tutorial programme aimed at helping to build our students resilience, confidence, employability skills and independence. They also support students in maintaining and improving their wellbeing, as well as making sure students successful complete of their course. Emphasis is given to raising students’ aspirations for positive progression routes and reaching their full potential.
